Palworld Cake Recipe and Breeding Farm Setup Guide (1.0)

A correct parent combination produces nothing until the Breeding Farm has Cake. In Palworld 1.0, the standard recipe is still the cheapest way to execute a species route, while four specialized Cakes change egg quality or quantity for more advanced projects.

This guide covers the whole production loop: build the farm, automate the five standard ingredients, choose the right Cake, and avoid the base-layout mistakes that leave a technically complete setup idle.

Standard Palworld Cake recipe

One standard Cake requires:

  • 5 Flour: grow Wheat, then process it in a Mill.
  • 8 Red Berries: harvest them from a Berry Plantation.
  • 7 Milk: assign Mozzarina to a Ranch.
  • 8 Eggs: assign Chikipi to a Ranch.
  • 2 Honey: assign Beegarde to a Ranch.

Cook the ingredients at an eligible cooking station, collect the Cake, and place it in the chest attached to the Breeding Farm. Cake stored in that dedicated farm chest does not spoil, so it is safe to build a buffer before starting a long route.

Standard Cake does not improve or weaken the child species. It enables one normal breeding attempt. The exact species still comes from the parent combination, which you can verify with the breeding calculator.

Build the Breeding Farm

The Breeding Farm unlocks at Technology level 19 and costs 100 Wood, 20 Stone, and 50 Fiber in the current data. Place it inside a base with enough open space for assigned Pals to enter and remain recognized by the structure.

To start an attempt:

  1. Add both intended parents to the base roster.
  2. Assign one male and one female Pal to the Breeding Farm.
  3. Confirm that the farm shows both assignments.
  4. Put the selected Cake in the attached chest.
  5. Keep the pair fed and allow the breeding meter to complete.
  6. Move the resulting egg to an Egg Incubator.

Parents are not consumed. Cake is the repeat cost, which is why ingredient throughput matters more than a one-time stockpile once you begin passive or Mutation projects.

The smallest practical Cake base

A reliable standard-Cake line needs more than the five ingredient icons. It needs every job that moves those ingredients through production:

  • Planting and Gathering for Wheat and Red Berries.
  • Watering for plantations and the Mill.
  • Farming at a Ranch for Milk, Eggs, and Honey.
  • Kindling to cook the Cake.
  • Transporting to move harvests and ranch drops into storage.
  • Cooling to protect perishable ingredients waiting to be cooked.

At minimum, build a Wheat Plantation, Berry Plantation, Mill, Ranch, cooking station, cooled ingredient storage, feed box, and Breeding Farm. Put the Mill near Wheat storage and the cooking station near the ingredient chest. A compact loop reduces travel and makes moderate work suitability perform better than a high-level worker crossing the entire base for every item.

Ranch assignments that keep the line moving

Chikipi produces Eggs. Eight are needed for each standard Cake, so Egg shortages become visible quickly when the Ranch is shared with too many other producers.

Mozzarina produces Milk. Milk can spoil, making nearby cooled storage and prompt transport important.

Beegarde produces Honey. Honey is also the ingredient most likely to block a new breeder who built plantations first. Secure a Beegarde and test its Ranch assignment before planning a large batch.

If one ingredient always reaches zero first, add capacity for that item instead of duplicating the entire base. A second Chikipi helps an Egg bottleneck; it does nothing for an idle Mill or missing Honey.

Which Cake should you use in Palworld 1.0?

  • Cake (standard recipe): enables a normal attempt. Use it for mixed-species routes and inexpensive intermediates.
  • Mushroom Cake (Technology level 30): makes offspring talents grow more easily. Use it to improve combat or worker stat potential.
  • Vegetable Cake (Technology level 47): produces two eggs in one attempt. Use it for gender rolls, volume, and condensation stock.
  • Extravagant Vegetable Cake (Technology level 60): makes Mutation more likely and supports talent growth. Use it for Mutation-focused target-species batches.
  • Special Cake (Technology level 74): improves the chance of inheriting multiple parent passives. Use it for curated endgame passive lines.

The expensive Cake is not automatically the best Cake. Match it to the problem you are solving.

When following a three-step path to obtain a species for the first time, standard Cake is efficient because intermediate Pals only need to exist and have a usable gender. Vegetable Cake is valuable when two hatches per attempt address the bottleneck. Special Cake becomes useful after both parents carry a deliberate passive pool. Extravagant Vegetable Cake belongs in a project where Mutation is the stated objective.

No Cake changes an incorrect combination into the desired child. If Penking + Bushi produces Sibelyx in the 1.0 table, a Special Cake still produces a Sibelyx-line result—it does not restore the old Anubis recipe.

A production layout that avoids common failures

Keep food and breeding storage distinct

Cake must be in the Breeding Farm's attached chest. Leaving it in a general storage box does not feed the breeding pair. Once Cake reaches the farm chest, it is protected from spoilage, making that chest the correct destination for finished batches.

Shorten every repeated walk

Place plantations, the Mill, ingredient storage, and cooking close enough that transporters do not spend most of the day walking. Keep the Breeding Farm accessible but far enough from crowded production structures that large parents can path into it.

Set task priorities

Generalist Pals may leave the Mill, cooker, or cooler for another allowed job. Disable lower-priority work when the Cake line must run. A worker with level 3 suitability on the correct station is more useful than a level 4 worker repeatedly choosing another task.

Protect perishable inputs

Red Berries, Milk, Eggs, and Flour can wait during production. Use cooled storage and keep a reliable Cooling Pal assigned. Honey is non-perishable, and finished Cake is safe in the Breeding Farm chest, so storage attention should focus on the ingredients that decay before cooking.

Test one Cake before scaling

Run the full chain once: harvest, mill, transport, cook, deposit, assign parents, and produce an egg. This exposes a missing job or blocked path before you commit ingredients to a large batch.

Plan Cake quantities around the breeding route

The Shortest Path Planner shows the minimum ordered breeding steps from the Pals you own. Treat that step count as a floor, not the exact Cake total. You may repeat an attempt for the required gender, better passives, or a quality roll.

For a pure species route, prepare at least one standard Cake per step plus a buffer. After the first target hatches, decide whether the project is complete or whether you are starting a separate target-species improvement phase. Keeping those budgets separate prevents premium Cakes from disappearing into temporary intermediates.

For a direct pair, verify it with the calculator, check parent gender, and then bake. For a target with many possible pairs, use Find the Parents before farming ingredients; choosing parents already owned can save more time than optimizing the kitchen.

Troubleshooting: why are my Pals not breeding?

The farm shows only one parent. Reassign both Pals and confirm one is male and the other female.

The progress meter does not start. Check that Cake is inside the Breeding Farm chest, not a nearby storage box.

A parent keeps leaving. Confirm it remains assigned to the farm and can path inside the structure. Move nearby objects if necessary.

The egg is the wrong species. The physical setup is working; the combination is wrong or outdated. Recheck both parent names in the 1.0 calculator.

Cake production is slow. Watch the line for one in-game cycle and identify the first empty input or unattended station. Add the missing job rather than adding random workers.
